Our History and Vision

BDS was formerly AED and was established in 1997 by Christopher J. Sosnowski, P.E.. After the economic downturn, the business was re-structured as BDS - Building Design Studio, with the vision set on selectively expanding our client base without sacrificing the quality of design we pride our reputation on. With the Principal having over 30 years of design experience, our experience is wide ranging so that real-world understanding of specific requirements for various project types is assured. Chris has the ability to creatively blend structural design and architecture. He knows how to bring even the most complicated creative designs to life.

Chris’ partner, Cheryl Sosnowski, has 20+ years in corporate management and sales experience with a background in the paper & printing industry. She has a passion for “old wonky buildings” and loves to see the buildings be repurposed and redesigned into a “modern industrial” to maintain the history and integrity and character of the building. She is also a UCLA certified mindfulness trainer and artist and has an online company which teaches a mindfulness + creativity program she designed and created. She has been working with Chris part-time for many years and partnered full time in 2019 as the company has grown. She focuses on the day to day operations, company expansion, and on building solid client relationships & new business development.
